day 1: started making a fake os in the browser. windows kept teleporting when i tried to drag them, took an hour to realize i wasnt tracking the mouse offset right
day 3: dragging works now, added the taskbar, paint app is choppy when u draw fast but its fine
day 5: z-index so windows come to front when clicked. added the cat feeder, feeding it shifts the whole page color which i thought was a cool idea
day 6: added meow beats using web audio api oscillators, no actual sound files needed which is nice
day 8: split into separate html/css/js files, added a cat that roams randomly around the desktop and bumps into windows
day 10: wanted an actual gif of a cat walking but every free gif site is either sketchy or slow to load, so instead i built a walking cat entirely out of divs + css keyframes, its legs actually move which took forever to time right. also reskinned literally everything to look skeuomorphic (glossy buttons, brushed metal taskbar, the traffic light close buttons) bc flat design felt boring after a while
day 13 (today): ok this one was a LOT. clicking the cat now makes it grow (shrinks back down if u leave it alone for a few sec), and every so often it randomly hops while walking. the big one tho: it now sometimes shoots a web at a random open window, swings up to it, walks back and forth on top of it for a bit like its inspecting it, then swings back down and keeps walking. had to switch the whole movement system from a css animation to plain js (setInterval moving left/top every 30ms) bc css animations cant really be redirected mid-flight. the swing arc took so many tries to not look like the cat was just teleporting
